This project was supported by Russia’s and ASEAN officials, which created a special fund to foster bilateral and multilateral cooperation.\n\n\n\nThe head of the Indonesian delegation was Professor I Nyoman Rai, Dean of Agriculture Faculty of Udayana University, while the Russian side was headed by Dean of Soil Science Faculty of the Moscow State University Professor Sergey Shoba.\n\n\n\nDuring the visit, the experts from both sides exchanged their views on the anticipated aims and flow of their cooperation within the project: they chose focal points and listed organizational activities. \n\n\n\nThey also touched upon specific scientific problems, which were identified as the objectives for the scientific cooperation. It was stated that, for example, research on the structure of bacterial and fungal communities will be carried out at Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology of Russian Academy of Sciences institute. The participants also planned to perform the research on improving the sustainability of crops affected by pathogens through the application of innovative technologies of crop production. Other topics included studying climate-friendly management practices for carbon sequestration, using GIS and special data for the needs of agriculture, environment, etc.\n\n\n\nBoth sides agreed that acquaintance with the culture of both countries, which occurred during the visit, had greatly enriched the scientific experience of the participants and opened continuously new topics for cooperation. These topics are of interest to all ASEAN countries.\n\n\n\nThe parties agreed that the spread of Russian technology to the ASEAN countries through their adaptation on the island of Bali would be a very effective method.
