Janet D. Villamor
Dr. Janet D. Villamor is an Associate Professor IV specializing in Soil Science at the College of Agriculture, Food and Sustainable Development (CAFSD), Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), a position she has held since January 2020. She teaches both basic and advanced soil science courses and is an active mentor, guiding students on advisory committees for both BS Agriculture (Soil Science major) and MS Crop Science programs. She also served as a coach for the Philippine team for the AEU 2024 held in Bali, Indonesia. Her extensive contributions include administrative and research leadership. Dr. Villamor serves as the Planning and Development Coordinator (PDC) of CAFSD from 2002 to 2025 and as an Apprenticeship Coordinator for Soil Science majors. Her expertise is sought after as an evaluator and resource speaker on various agricultural topics. She is currently involved in two newly approved initiatives: a five-year ACIAR-PCAARRD funded project focused on soil health to enhance crop productivity across three provinces in Luzon, and the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) project, funded by Green Carbon, Japan.
Before her current position, Dr. Villamor was a University Researcher (2018-2019), notably serving as the primary project researcher for the UPLB-DOST-PCAARRD funded SARAI Project (Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry). Her earlier career includes roles as an Instructor II at Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) from 2010 to 2015, University Research Associate I and extensionist at DMMMSU’s Sericulture Research and Development Institute (1998-2010), and a Science Research Specialist I for an FAO-funded project (1996-1997) of PhilRice. She also attended both national and international trainings, among others is a season-long training on Pigeonpea at ICRISAT, India.
Dr. Villamor is an alumna of the University of the Philippines, Los Banos for all her degrees, from undergraduate to Ph.D. She is a Licensed Agriculturist and a Registered Researcher of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA). Currently she is a BOT of the Philippine Society of Soil Science and Technology (PSSST). Lastly, she is a member of the Phi Sigma Biological Sciences Honor Society and Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society for Agriculture – UPLB Chapter.
